We're back, baby!
Announcing our new season: GUTS OF ALBION
Dearest cinephiles,
Welcome back.
It is time to start our brand new programme, hot on the heels of the TAROT SEASON, which finished in Jan.
Consider this our official announcement for GUTS OF ALBION.
An ancient name for the islands we now call Britain, ‘Albion’ is a word charged with mystical meaning. Our season of painstakingly curated films will crawl under the skin of this nation and shine a light on all the warts.
It is our autopsy of the English identity, so we’ll be screening cinematic sagas bursting with folk customs, ritual dancing, mad rites, wild dreams and forgotten traditions, in a bid to understand what this nation is really made of.
Our first film sets the scene like nothing else could. Trust us, you don’t want to miss it…
FRONTLINE FOLKLORE by Ben Edge
Join us for a one-off screening of renown folk artist, Ben Edge’s, documentary journey throughout the Ritual Year of 2019.
It began after Ben serendipitously stumbled upon a Druid ceremony on Tower Hill, London, and lead to a life changing journey across the British Isle, in which he visited twenty folk customs and unknowingly captured and documented the pre-Covid ritual landscape, as well highlighting and celebrating the importance of community, creativity and the often overlooked, yet thriving folk culture that can be found across Britain today.
The film will be followed by a Q&A with Ben Edge in which he will be joined by collaborator and editor of the film Angelica Jopson.
